My girlfriend Cassidy, her dog and I are looking for a place and/or a way to live that allows us to save for graduate school in Europe. We’ve considered several options and are open to any options that could be around or less than 800 per month. Our move-in date is on or before March 31st, 2025.
A bit about us:
I am Andrew. I work full-time as an educator and designer at the North Carolina Arboretum where I do youth programming and create educational media and exhibits. In my free time, I love to design and play board games with friends. I enjoy hiking and traveling to new places, and have spent a couple years cumulatively in Europe–primarily Slovakia and England. While in those places, I often did work exchanges to support my stay, meaning I would live with someone in exchange for room and board, I landscaped, gardened, cleaned, or even worked the desk of a hostel. Prior to that, I lived in a van for a couple of years, work exchanging as well. I worked at a community farm in Chapel Hill and helped a woman in Leicester with her garden, so I am familiar with alternative living arrangements.
Cassidy is a board-certified music therapist who works primarily with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In her free time, Cassidy enjoys song writing and arts and crafts. She also enjoys hiking and is trying to read 25 books this year! She is originally from Atlanta, but moved up this way for work and has fallen in love with Appalachian folk culture, which inspires her music and many of our day trips.
Goose is a 2-year-old mid-sized mutt with ears bigger than her brain, but not as big as her heart. She rarely barks and is incredibly friendly to people and dogs, if a little overly-excitable. She has lived in an apartment her whole life, and while she gets frequent walks, it would also be great to give her a bit of green space she can play in.
As a couple we are quiet and respectful, we spend many of our days working in cafes or sipping drinks with friends at a brewery’s trivia night. If we do ever have people over, it is a couple of like-minded friends so we can all play a board game together.
What we might be looking for:
Ideally, we would like to rent a basement or a couple of spare rooms. We are happy to pay rent, but as I said about my experience, we’d also be open to help out with some chores and yard work if that could count towards the rent. I thought this might be of particular interest to folks living alone and in the wake of the storm, as a bit of extra help and security.
We are also open to (and quite enthused by) the idea of buying a camper-trailer if we could find somewhere with utilities to hook it up. To be clear, we don’t own anything yet, but if the right circumstances presented themselves, we’d consider purchasing one if it would save us money in the long-run.
And, of course, if there were to be a regular rental at the right price point, we would be interested in that as well!
Thank you for reading all this, and I hope you’ll reach out if you think we could be a good fit for something you have or something someone you know does. We appreciate you!
Signed,
Andrew
